报告摘要：Organisms exploit resources to persist, to compete with other organisms for survival, and sometimes to evolve to adapt to the changing environment. In this talk, several PDE models from spatial ecology will be presented, aiming to understand the evolution of movement in spatially heterogeneous environment. The mathematical findings, partly based on the game theoretic approach, are closely related with the biological theory of ideal free distribution.

报告人简介：楼元，美国俄亥俄州立大学数学系教授。1988年本科毕业于北京大学数学系; 1991年硕士毕业于北京大学数学系; 1995年博毕业于明尼苏达大学; 1995年-1998年在MSRI和芝加哥大学作博士后; 1998年起在俄亥俄州立大学任教，2008年起任教授, 曾任美国生物数学研究所副所长。楼元教授是偏微分方程和生物数学研究领域的国际著名学者，侧重偏微分方程理论及在生物中的应用研究，包括物种竞争、物种入侵、物种进化、海洋生物学、疾病传播、人口基因学等方面。在国际顶尖杂志上发表学术论文90余篇, 代表性工作被引用超过2千次。他的研究工作获得多项科学基金资助并应邀在多个重要国际学术会议做大会邀请报告。楼元教授现任《Discrete Continuous Dynamical System--Series B》主编，及《SIAM Journal of Applied Math》,《Journal of Differential Equations》，《Journal of Mathematical Biology》等期刊的编委。
